Day 1: Arrival in Shanghai

Upon arrival at the airport, our guide will greet you at Shanghai airport and transfer to Suzhou (1.5hours). Suzhou is the city with over 2,500 years of history and regarded by Marco Polo as the "Venice of the Orient". Suzhou is also known as the Silk Capital of the World.

Day 2: Suzhou/Hangzhou by Coach

Meals included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch and dinner at local halal restaurant

Praised by Marco Polo as the Venice of the Orient, Suzhou has always been the silk capital of China as well as the whole world for centuries. In the morning we will visit the specially selected garden, the garden of the master of nets which is one of the smallest gardens in Suzhou. Being the most exquisite and the best-preserved garden in all old residential gardens in Suzhou, The most striking feature of Garden of the Master of the Nets is its use of space. Small as its size is, the scale of the building is large, but nothing appears cramped. Later we will have a cruise on the Grand Canal which was constructed in the Sui Dynasty (AD581-AD618) as a waterway to ship the produce of Southeast China to the capital of Beijing. Then we will visit the Panmen City Gate and the Silk Factory where we will learn the ancient art of making Chinese silk products by hand. We will drive to Hangzhou in the afternoon.

Day 3: Hangzhou/Shanghai by Coach

Meals included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch and dinner at local halal restaurant

Hangzhou is one of the seven ancient capital cities in China known for its beautiful landscape and praised as "Heaven on Earth". We will start our tour of Hangzhou with a stroll along the "Su Causeway" viewing the beautiful scenery of the famous West Lake. From there we visit the Dragon Well Tea Village, the hometown of the number one Chinese green tea – Dragon Tea. After prayers at Phoenix Mosque, we will drive to Shanghai.

Day 4: Shanghai

Meals included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch and dinner at local halal restaurant

We will visit the Yuyuan Garden, which is characteristic of the architectural style of the Ming dynasty. The highlight of the day is shopping at the Chenghuangmiao Market, a great place to test your bargaining skills. We will also visit the Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Xintiandi, which is a newly developed recreation area in Shanghai with old styled buildings. In the afternoon we will visit Xiaotaoyuan Mosque, the Bund, Nanjing Road.

Day 5: Departure from Shanghai

Meals included: Breakfast at hotel

Transfer to airport after breakfast at hotel. Tour ends once at the airport.

Performing Salat at Suzhou Taipingfang Mosque

Suzhou Taipingfang Mosque was first built in 1924 and has a history for over 80 years. The rebuilt and enlarged temple covers an area of 650 square meters. The temple still keeps 10 stone steles created in Qing Dynasty(1644-1911) and Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). In every Jumat Day, there will be 200 local Muslim people coming here to do prayer. In the important religious day, there will be over 1,000 people gather here to take part in the religious activities.

Performing Salat at Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque

Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque is one of the four greatest mosques in the coastal area of Southeast China. Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque was built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), and was ruined in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). In 1929, the gate and the five-storied wooden minaret on the top of the gate were removed because of the city construction, seriously damaging the overall image of the mosque. Later Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque underwent several reconstructions. At present, Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque covers an area of about 2,600 square meters, and consists of the entrance hall, the auditorium and the prayer hall, etc. The prayer hall of Hangzhou Phoenix Mosque was built without any girder during the Yuan Dynasty. Many cultural relics and artworks, including some wooden couplets with Arabic calligraphy inscriptions on them and stone steles, are preserved in the mosque.

Performing Salat at Shanghai Xiaotaoyan Mosque

Located at Xiaotaoyuan Street in southern Shanghai, the Xiaotaoyan Mosque, also called the Xicheng Mosque, is one of the famous mosques in Shanghai. This Mosque was established in 1917 and rebuilt in 1925 and features the Islamic architectural style. Inside the gate there is a rectangular courtyard. On the west side of the hall stands the great prayer hall of 500 square meters, which can hold 200 prayers. The prayer hall has two storeys. Since Shanghai Xiaotaoyuan Mosque was founded, it has established several schools, including the Islam Normal School, the Primary School for Muslims, Mingcheng Primary School, Chongben Primary School, and Shanghai Islam Orphanage, etc. Currently, organizations such as the Management Committee of Mosques in Shanghai, Shanghai Islam Association and so on are located in Shanghai Xiaotaoyuan Mosque.

Fine Dining at Local Halal Restaurants

Breakfast will be both Western and Chinese buffet breakfast at hotel. Lunch & dinner will be at local Chinese Halal restaurants near sightseeing places. Please be assured that all lunch and dinner arranged by ICT will be at Halal restaurants. We don't arrange pork free meals. In Beijing you might taste Halal Peking Roast Duck, Halal Mongolian Hop Pot; In Xian, you might try the most famous local Muslim food of Crumbled Flatbread in Mutton Stew (locals call it Yangrou Paomo); In Shanghai, you may try Beef or Lamb Kebab and Lanzhou Beef Noodles. If you have special request for Indian, Pakistani, Indonesian, Turkish, Arabian or other cuisines, please advise us in advance and we will arrange accordingly. Please note that Indian, Pakistani, Indonesian, Turkish, Arabian restaurants are always more expensive than Chinese Halal meals. Halal restaurants arranged by ICT must have Halal certificate issued by related government offices.
